Computer Forecast: What Will Be Popular in 2012?

July 26, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Any meteorologist will tell you that it’s tough to predict the weather, no matter how advanced the equipment. The same can be said for predicting what’s going to be popular in technology in the coming weeks, months or years. With technology advancing so rapidly and popular products constantly receiving upgrades and new version releases, it could be that the general public has not yet been introduced to whatever the next big thing may be.

Yet one thing is for sure: If you want to get your hands on what’s popular in 2012, you’re going to want to be familiar with websites that help you find the best deals on the newest technologies (Offers.com is a good one). And one other thing is a sure bet: You’re going to want to be paying attention, since whatever’s popular is sure to change on a pretty frequent basis. Just the best deals in packages in http://www.direct.tv also changes almost immediately, it won’t be long until the technological must-have of today is the has-been of tomorrow.

With that being said, here are some predictions on what 2012 might hold:

  • iPads will continue to be big sellers, perhaps even reaching the 20 million sold mark.
  • Flash drives will become less expensive and more accessible, allowing computers to become even smaller, thinner and faster.
  • Smartphones like the iPhone and Blackberry will dominate the market.
  • The amount of television channels available in HD will skyrocket.
  • Touch-screen technology will continue to grow and expand.

In addition to these predictions, there are others out there that may seem far-fetched but could very easily become a reality within a year. Would we really be surprised to see invisible tanks or personal robots?

Touch Screen Monitors

Space Invaders Extreme

With early personal computers, the only way to navigate the computer screen was by keyboard input. While a person could get pretty good at games like Tetris and Space Invaders with only the arrow keys and space bar for input, we would probably admit that the computer mouse was a big improvement. Once the computer could be operated with a range of motion device, it became easy to navigate and select items.

Who Needs Touch Screen Technology?

Early touch screens were used for leaning applications. Young children who lacked the coordination to operate a mouse or keyboard could easily touch an object on the screen. Touch screens were also instrumental in special education classrooms where students had visual, motor, or cognitive deficits. For students of all ages, touch screens for those with learning problems were – are – useful tools.

Who Else Uses Them?

Picture yourself at the counter of a fast food restaurant, such as McDonalds or Jack in the Box. As you place your order, you see the counter clerk touching a computer screen. If you can sneak a peek, you’ll see pictures of various sandwiches, side orders, beverages, etc., on squares shown on the monitor. By touching the appropriate squares, the clerk sends your request to the kitchen, where the order will be filled. We’ll soon submit the orders ourselves in all sorts of restaurants via use of customer touch screens.

Regarding the uses for touch screen computer monitors, the applications mentioned here barely scratch the surface. The technology has grown so quickly, touch screens are now used by virtually every industry. The availability of touch screens ensure that you will soon be using one at home, if you aren’t already.

Take a look at the phones used by your friends and family and you are likely to notice a trend: Android phones are dominating the market. These smart phones, such as LG Android phones, have become increasingly popular over the past several years. The Android technology, now owned by Google, continues to grow, as do the number of applications and the variety of phones available. The trend continues to grow.

When you consider that more than 45 million Americans own a smart phone, and that other popular platforms, most notably Apple and RIM, have actually lost customers, it is easy to see why the Android platform is so popular. The platform, used in LG Android phones, has several key advantages over the competition, but one really stands out: the age range of their users. By creating phones and marketing them to specific groups, such as teens and businesspeople, the platform has been able to garner a large part of the market share for smart phones.

Google has also invested heavily into their apps store, giving LG Android phone users access to over 200,000 applications. At the same time, they are actively seeking to increase the number of available apps and have an open source initiative to ensure smooth future development.

Android phones are known for their functionality. Voice command web browsing, integrated video-chat, and slick design features make phones based on this platform highly user-friendly and intuitive. As Android continues their drive towards creating bigger and better systems and applications, we are likely to see more smartphone users move to this platform.

Seeking Reviews, Gaining Results

June 23, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Progress shapes the world — advancements are swift; inspiration is constant; and evolution is as familiar as it is necessary. Technology changes with each day, and this sparks desire among the masses: with individuals craving all of the latest gadgetry and products, certain that each is worthy of their time (and money).

You are no exception to this love of software. Your home is a tribute to technical perfection — with new items purchased often and new revelations sought.

Such revelations must first be reviewed, however, before they should be chosen.

It is an too common mistake for users to become overwhelmed by technology. Products can be selected without care — with no concern for price, functionality or even critical acclaim. This can lead to wasted dollars and wasted space (with items stuffed into boxes, hidden on shelves). It’s imperative therefore that all individuals remember the necessity of reviews.

No item should be purchased without first understanding its intentions, cost and ultimate value. Critical — as well as consumer — testimonies are essential therefore. These chart out the strengths, weaknesses and recommended demographics for products: allowing users to make wise decisions rather than succumbing to their impulses. Technology is too expensive, as well as too platform specific, to simply buy. It demands recognition. Reviews offer that.

The need for each month’s most impressive items is often overwhelming. Marketing campaigns boast endless promises and capabilities. These advertisements are not to be believed, however. Impartial reviews must instead be sought. These will offer the necessary explanations and will spare users the horror of poor choices and empty wallets.

The smartphone market has some tough competition. Everyone from the iPhone to the Android is competing to dominate the market. However, there can only be one smartphone at the top of the market, and lately the dominating smartphone is the Android.

Smartphone users choose the Android OS over competitors because of the vast number of features and uses that comes with choosing this type of phone. Here’s a look at some of the features that have helped make the Android the dominating force on the smartphone market.

Androids Have Better Graphics

Androids are known throughout the smartphone industry for offering the best graphics. Many smartphones tend to have blocky, unclear photos, but the Android is known for providing clear, high-def photos and images.

Great Web Browsing Experience

The Android Tablet provides users with a web-browsing experience that is similar to surfing the web on a PC. This ability to provide a faster, smoother web browsing experience for users is why the Android is top of the smartphone market.

Provides the Latest Apps

Part of the fun of owning a smartphone is the ability to download some great apps that help your smartphone do a number of really cool things. Anyone with an Android has access to some the most popular apps on the smartphone market. Many of the apps are customized just for the Android so they all work really well with the smartphone.

With features like better graphics, fast web browsing, and access to the latest apps it’s no surprise that the Android is top of the smartphone market.

What is a 3D TV?

June 15, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Dimensions are meant to be conquered: technology is to challenge the limitations of length and height – ensuring that images are offered perceptions beyond flat geometry. Angles must be given life; shapes must be provided tangibility. This is the intention of graphics and that intention is receiving new aid through the use of 3D.

3D – or three dimensional, when objects are rendered with spatial accuracy — is an idea that has received much attention within the 21st century. It’s been introduced to the world of cinematography, imbuing film strips with new depths. This has caused much interest (with individuals forever relying on a Visa prepaid credit card to purchase the movie tickets).

That interest is bleeding out of the theaters, however, and is entering homes: with 3D televisions deemed the new trend to chase.

A 3D television, simply explained, is a screen that allows images to be converted from traditional formats: offering pixels a realistic design and utilizing higher rate speeds. The process involves using a stethoscope capture (which separates individual frames, filtering them to either the left or right eye of the watcher). This allows an illusion of depth to occur. Through the aid of colored lenses, this depth can be perceived seamlessly – with the light fractured through red and cyan shades and the pictures then superimposed. The effect is instantaneous, with individuals able to see in the highly regarded 3D and their favorite shows changed for the better.

The notion of three dimensional viewing is not a new one: it is, however, receiving a new form. Television will provide progress that can’t be denied.

Turning off Computers, Turning on Relief

June 15, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

A screen is sleeping — its corners dark, its functions lost. All commands are ignored; all keystrokes are futile. A computer instead remains idle, with its information trapped within a hard-drive, unable to be released. And you are… furious, cursing a monitor, threatening to toss it away. The troubleshooting techniques that were promised to never fail have offered no results. No application can be accessed. All functions seem instead to be lost.

They’re not — they simply must be started once more.

Computers are complex collections of wires and signal transfers. It is an all too easy thing therefore for data to become tangled, causing all functions to suddenly cease. Users can become frustrated with this, assuming that nothing can be done or that professional aid will instead be needed. It often won’t be, however — if the system is simply rebooted.

Turning your computer off is the most valuable troubleshooting method you can utilize. By allowing the entire platform to shut itself down (resting then for at least twenty seconds), you can ensure that the majority of problems will be solved. This occurs because functions are able to erase previous commands and can restructure themselves. All applications will begin once more. This provides the necessary speed and connections needed to complete tasks.

It must be noted that turning the system off is not a guarantee of success. Complicated concerns — such as corrupted data or viruses — can’t be so easily solved. The standard worries, however, can often be undone. And this is vital for users who can’t spare the time (or dollars) to seek out professional support.

Top 4 Smartphones of 2011

The popularity of smartphones has shot up in recent years, and shows no signs of slowing down. These aren’t just phones, they have added features such as cameras and the internet and they also allow us to organize our lives. Almost anything you can do on a netbook can be done on a phone, and many big businesses are making sure there is a mobile-friendly version of their website.

The number one smartphone of 2011 is expected to be the Samsung Galaxy S II. This is an attractive phone, with a 4.3″ display and a 1GhZ processor…its capable of doing anything, from easily staying in touch with friends to checking prepaid card balances and browsing the internet. The Samsung screen is the huge plus point for this phone – while other phones may mimic the size, Samsung makes impressive mobile screens.

Once the clear front-runner is out of the way, the remaining candidates are based on what you look for in a phone. The Motorola Droid Bionic is the first properly 4G phone on the market, and boasts many of the Samsung’s features. The LG G2X is LG’s first real go at designing a smartphone, and it is one that has been eagerly anticipated, with a fast processors, plenty of cameras and HD recording.

Most people will agree that once you’ve looked at these three, Apple is the next clear favorite. The iPhone 4 is an amazing phone, which has the benefit of a long battery life. It’s available on most networks, and while the screen is slightly smaller at 3.5″, it’s one of the most popular smartphones.

Understanding Skills and Limitations: Troubleshooting

June 12, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

There can be no questions without answers. There can be no riddles without solutions. This is the logic that guides you — with all complications able to be solved through simple common sense. All causes have effects, and you wish to discover them. This is the intention of troubleshooting: with a computer examined for its faults and problems eventually solved. No signal is too weak for you to decipher. No wire will prove to be too tangled. You have complete faith in your abilities.

Those abilities, however, are not yet fully formed — and the result of your troubleshooting attempts can therefore be disastrous.

It’s forever been recommended that users learn to master their systems, to gain control over components. Such control demands time, however, and too often do individuals simply lack the necessary hours (or patience) to study what they must. This leads them to form only basic understandings of computers — which is enough to decipher some problems, but it can’t compensate for the complexities that are certain to come.

It is strongly suggested therefore that individuals — like yourself — recognize their limitations. Troubleshooting is not a simple process. It demands skills, and these can’t always be earned quickly. Trying to battle hard-drives, software failures and more can be a challenge: with computers potentially ruined by inept solutions and clumsy patches.

All users must know their own strengths, as well as weaknesses. And, when these have been surpassed, professional help must instead be sought. The cost of this may seem worrisome, but the results will at least be guaranteed — rather than possibly ending in a broken system and a bruised ego.
